A Reconnaissance Modeling Study
May Ling Becker and Rick Luettich, UNC Institute of Marine Science, and Joannes Westerink, Notre Dame, March 15, 2001

"A Reconnaissance Modeling Study of Two-dimensional Tidal Circulation and Sediment Bed Change in the Vicinity of the Cape Fear River Navigation Channel, NC"

Introduction

The objective of this study was to apply the latest two-dimesional, vertically-integrated version of the ADCIRC circulation model and the ADBED bed change model to study tidal circulation and accompanying bed change in the area surrounding the mouth of the Cape Fear River, N.C. This research effort, in support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Coastal Inlets Research Program, provides an initial investigation of possible circulation and sedimentation consequences of the USACE channel re-alignment project at Wilmington Harbor.
