    Site Descriptions

Instrument Location I1 CC: BiPod on the Mound at Dredged Material Placement Site ‘C’
Establish, maintain, and operate a measurement site on the mound at the dredged material placement site designated ‘C,’ located at approximately 31deg 04.27min North by 81deg 18.73min West.

This will consist of a Coast Guard approved Special Use Marker, instrument platform(s), and measurement system.

At this site a bipod frame will be installed and an array of instruments will be operated.  This will include a SonTek Hydra system consisting of an Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter(ADV) and array of Optical Backscatter Sensors (OBS).

A Laser InSitu Sediment Transmisometer(LISST) will also be required.  In addition to the automated instrumentation, Sediment Entrainment Devices(SEDs), (and possibly other means such as grab samples), will be used to sample sediment for comparison and calibration of the instruments.

Data Quality Control/Quality Assurance(QC/QA) is imperative.  Quarterly servicing is required and analysis results are expected within 6 weeks of data collection; time is of the essence.

Instrument Location I2 DS: Dredged Material "Dump Site" ADCP
Establish, maintain, and operate a measurement site at the dredged material "Dump Site", (as designated in NOAA Chart 11502) located at approximately 31deg 01.72 min N by 81deg 16.52 min W.  This will consist of a trawler resistant pod with an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) measurement system.  SEDs and possibly other means, such as grab samples, will be used to sample sediment for comparison and calibration of the instruments.

Data QC/QA is imperative.  Quarterly servicing is required and analysis results are expected within 6 weeks of data collection; time is of the essence.

Instrument Location I3 JN:  Jekyll BiPod
Establish, maintain and operate a measurement site at the Jekyll nearshore designated dredged material placement site, located at approximately 31deg 06.31min N by 81deg 22.51 min W.  This task will include the Special Use Marker, bipod, and instrumentation. The SonTek Hydra system consisting of an ADV and array of OBS, and a LISST will be required. SEDs and possibly other means, such as grab samples, will be used to sample sediment for comparison and calibration of the instruments.

Data QC/QA is imperative. Quarterly servicing is required and analysis results are expected within 6 weeks of data collection; time is of the essence.

Instrument Location I4 CD: Buoy ‘C’ ADCP
Establish, maintain and operate the measurement site near designated dredged material placement site ‘C’, located at approximately 31deg 04.04 min N by 81deg 18.92 min W. This task will include the Special Use Marker and instrumentation.  This site consist of a trawler resistant pod with an ADCP. SEDs and possibly other means, such as grab samples, will be used to sample sediment for comparison and calibration of the instruments.

Data QC/QA is imperative. Quarterly servicing is required and analysis results are expected within 6 weeks of data collection; time is of the essence.

Instrument Location I5 CS:  Piling ‘A’ BiPod
Establish, maintain and operate a measurement site on the near designated dredged material placement site ‘C’, located at approximately 31deg 04.17min N by 81deg 19.18 min W.  This task will include the Special Use Marker and instrumentation.  At this site there is a bipod frame with a SonTek Hydra system consisting of an ADV and array of OBS, and LISST.  In addition to the automated instrumentation, SEDs and possibly other means, such as grab samples, will be used to sample sediment for comparison and calibration of the instruments.  Data QC/QA is imperative.  Quarterly servicing is required and analysis results are expected within 6 weeks of data collection; time is of the essence.
